Russian president Dmitry Medvedev, opened the annual economic forum in Saint Petersburg, said, that Russia must become a country where dreams can realize.

Russia must become a country which attracts people from around the world to realize their dreams.

Two weeks later well-known politologist Nikolay Zlobin answered him in his blog (translated from Russian).

The country where even the citizens do not risk to move from place to place looking for the best work, earnings or way of life, can not become attractive for foreigners any way. Some of them, certainly, will be tempted of presidential invitation. However at the heart of their motivation will be privileges and the high salaries promised by Mr. Medvedev. They will come as temporary residents who are looking down on native Russians and will look at their Russian home absolutely the same as Europeans century ago looked at their homes in colonies.

Being not fully agree with Mr. Zlobin, in many respects, however, in this case I think this is the best comment of the Russian President’s words. In fact, it already had been during the last 20 years. Over these years, many foreigners came to Russia. They came, attracted of big salary, which paid them by foreign as well as local employers (because they are foreigners), or the wide field for speculation, speculation in the literal sense. Maybe you remember Mr. Behgjet Pacolli. Of course, Mr.Medvedev had meant, Russia must become like America, the country of unlimited possibilities. So he must understand, Russia could become such country if it will become the country of unlimited possibilities for its own citizens at first. But for it Mr. Medvedev does not need foreigners.

The police said the seizure was due to a lack of valid documentation, according to the Interfax news agency.

The book, written by former deputy prime minister Boris Nemtsov and economist Vladimir Milov, questions the ‘myth’ of Putin, blaming him for rampant corruption and growing poverty. ‘We want everyone in the country to know who Vladimir Putin really is,’ Nemtsov said at a recent launch of the book.

27(14) of May 1905 Russian the 2nd Pacific squadron under command by Vice Admiral Zinovy Rozhestvensky met in the Tsushima strait with the Royal Japanese navy under command by admiral Heihachiro Togo. After more then 5 hours battle 4 Russian battleships were seriously damaged and sank, between them was Rozhestvensky’s flag-ship “Knyaz Suvorov”. Before the ship sank, Rozhestvensky was transferred to the destroyer “Buiny”. Command devolved to Rear Admiral Nikolai Nebogatov. During the night, several Russian ships were sunk by torpedo attacks of Japaneese destroyers. When the sun rose the next morning, Heihachiro Togo moved in to engage the remnants of Russian squadron. They met again and having only six ships Nebogatov hoisted the signal to surrender. Admiral Rozhestvensky surrendered later this day on board of the destroyer “Bedovyi”.

More information here http://tsushima.su in Russian and http://www.russojapanesewar.com/tsushima.html in English

10 minutes fragment from Japaneese movie Nihonkai Daikaisen ( “Great Naval Battle in the Sea of Japan”), directed by Seiji Maruyama, 1969.

Unfortunately until now nobody made such movie about this battle in Russia, but it maybe could be better then the Mikhalkov’s horrible movie, falled down in Cannes.

After fire in night club in Perm last December, local governor and police chief both asked for resignations. After the explosions in the Moscow metro this week nor minister of the Interior, nor the Federal Security Service chief did not ask for the same. I wonder why, because it would be logical. Of course, Russia has its own logic. Chiefs of the Police and Secret Service are not responsible for the terrorists who were able came to Moscow with bombs and explode. They did all they could, but in all the will of Allah? Russian police and security service disperse opposition actions more active than looking for the bombers. Mr.Putin 10 years ago demanded “to kill terrorists off in a toilet”. Now he requires “scraped them out from the bottom of the sewers”. So, it means 10 years later nobody of terrorists was scraped out from the bottom and nobody was killed off. It is full circle.

“North Caucasus group”, said Federal Security Service chief Aleksandr Bortnikov during the meeting in the Kremlin on Monday, a few hours later after the explosions in the Moscow underground killed 38 and injured more then 60. Nobody of the Russian officials said “Chechnya”, they try not to focus at national problems, but that traces came from the Northern Caucasus they have no doubt. Opposition, meanwhile, recalled that after similar terrorist attacks in 1999, 2002, 2004, the Kremlin each time abolished more and more democratic institutions step by step. A well-known Putin critic, politologist Andrey Piontkovsky suggests very transparently, the explosions in the Moscow underground could be a provocation to bring Putin presidency again. It is reality the situation in the North Caucasus is not under full control, as Federals say. No doubt, the terrorist attacks early really served a good service for Mr.Purin in his politics. Nevertheless, it would be so horrible if to believe in the provocation with political targets.

I found this video in the net. The text in Russian and, attention, with some specific words, known as Russian profanity. This song about Russian president.

I know nothing about RABFAK group. It is something like folk-pank, anyway it is funny, but not only. The song “Tovarisch Medvedev” (literally as traditional soviet address: “comrade Medvedev”) sounds like dialog. Chorus asked: “we go in fog having seen nothing”, that means, where we have to go, and a voice, sounding like real Medvedev’s voice, answers: “go follow me, don’t fuck my brain.”

Russians are coming! Ex-KGB officer has bought “The Independent” for a pound. What does it mean? In principle, it means nothing. The newspaper will not become the mouthpiece of the Kremlin because there is not audience for it. Mr. Lebedev, as far as I know, has never interfered in editorial policy of his own media. In this case, what is the point of the deal, the business only? Maybe, if it possible to say – business for black days. The only that could be assumed both probably, one of influential British newspaper will become a tabloid soon. And that’s all. Why the newspaper will become tabloid? It should happen, because it is the general direction of movement of the printing press now. We must become yellow a little, to be alive, said once an editor-in-chief of one newspaper, who I knew. Then this person left this business for another sphere. Maybe this person was right, printing journalism is dying. Readers have enough other sources of information to learn what they need, besides newspapers. Readers are not interesting to read that they had already heard before by radio or TV or had read in the Internet. So readers can buy a newspaper in that case only, they can find there something like belletristic, to read in a train or airplane, or waiting the train at a station. Is it right or I’m wrong?

Vladimir Putin was very angry, learned that in time of the action in Kaliningrad last Sunday protesters demanded his resignation from prime minister. An advisor of the Kremlin administration, who oversaw Kaliningrad region, resigns under pressure of Putin’s assistants. Putin does not understand how someone had dared to demand his resignation. Moscow newspaper Vedomosti does not exclude the possibility of resignation of the Kaliningrad region governor Georgy Boos during the next few months. At the same time leaders of pro-Kremlin party “United Russia” attacked the Federation Council speaker Sergey Mironov, who criticized Putin’s policy. One of them Vladimir Pekhtin said Mironov should resign before, and only after it he can criticize prime minister, “who supported by most Russians”. Incredible, Mironov is not member of the United Russia led by Putin, he is leader of his own party “Fair Russia”. The Federal Council is the chamber of the Russian Parliament, so its speaker is the same as Mr.Pekhtin – the parliament member, but not Putin’s team member. So he can criticize any government officials, even prime minister. All it shows crystal clear, what Putin and his party understand under the word “politics”.
